Description
The role will principally be to appoint, manage and review external consultants work, coordinate the technical process, provide value engineered solutions and liaise with internal departments and affordable housing associations across a number of the businesses’ housing developments. The remit is both diverse and far reaching, commencing with providing support to the planning department during the early stages of a project, through to build, completion, handover and final adoptions.

This will include coordinating and chairing pre-development meetings and attending regular site meetings involving Construction, Sales, Planning / Design and Commercial departments in order to discuss / agree all aspects of the scheme design, specification, programme and technical issues as appropriate. You will also have the responsibility to ensure the timely issue and distribution of a drawing package to enable a full and comprehensive tender process, working towards a programmed site start together with clearance of any statutory bodies’ imposed conditions and S106 Agreements with regard to the approved planning application.

The Manager / Coordinator will be required to maintain a good understanding of the environmental and ecological constraints of the development and ensure that appropriate mitigation is undertaken to allow construction to proceed in line with programme and ensure that site queries are dealt with as a priority to ensure continuity of build and sales progress.

There is a requirement on each development to manage both fees and budget, check layout drawings / details / suppliers and manufacturer’s information and produce schedules for plots, materials and the like.

Qualifications
The successful candidate should have a Construction or Architectural related qualification i.e. Degree, HND or HNC and be experienced in the co-ordination of residential projects; particularly with good working knowledge of the Planning system and development process, and design and technical issues relevant to house building.

It is essential you will have a sound knowledge of Building Regulations, NHBC / Premier Standards and planning guidance / policies. Knowledge of affordable housing contracts would be advantageous.

Skills
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, being able to manage and coordinate the full range of consultants and authorities before, during and post construction. They will be highly self-motivated, able to work within budgetary constraints and under their own initiative as well as part of a team used to working to tight deadlines, be computer literate and fully conversant with AutoCAD or ArchiCAD.
