Temporary Project Manager
The Project Manager role will deliver a number of fire strategy related projects as well as Asbestos remediation & accessibility improvements.
The post-holder will be required to seek out the relevant stakeholder representatives from faculties to support services and, in some cases, end users.
The nature of the works will require close coordination with the client’s Safety Team as well as Projects to avoid conflicts and ensure diversion plans are out into place for essential / emergency access & egress routes.
Summary of projects:
Fire Door Repairs & Upgrades
A comprehensive audit of the fire doors throughout the estate has been used to formulate a series of repairs programmes. A contract has been let to a fire protection specialist for the repairs required to the accommodation and is well underway. The ongoing requirement of the PM will be to manage this contract to completion, undertaking quality audits, agreeing valuations and reporting progress.
Fire Compartmentation Repairs & Upgrades
An audit of fire compartments as well as an assessment of where these are required has informed our passive fire protection strategy. Initially, the programme will address shortfalls within high-risk the teaching & ancillary space. These works have been packaged and are due to be tendered shortly. The PM will be required to assess the tender submissions in line with the tender specification including organising tender interviews, scoring and eventual contract award.
Asbestos Remediation, Removal & Encapsulation
Some of the Asbestos works are enabling works that will precede the fire compartment repairs. Others are required to resolve actions identified by safety audits or asbestos surveys. A handover plan will be provided that will summarise the progress to date identifying any outstanding actions.
