Permanent Senior Site Manager – Civil

Job Description

This is a terrific opportunity to join a successful, established and growing company that provides engineering, construction and maintenance services for water utilities – such as water treatment plants, sewerage treatment works, pumping stations, acid phase digestion plants and other water infrastructure. Based in the Bath / Somerset region the company has a long history of providing innovative and quality work to their clients. There is an immediate requirement for a Senior Site Manager to manage the civil and mechanical works on a variety of water / wastewater schemes along the M4 corridor in Swindon, Chippenham and Oxford region. Reporting to the relevant Operations Manager your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for the safe construction delivery of project/s
  • Ensure that all works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with legal, quality and specified requirements
  • Delivery of schemes to programme and forecast
  • Responsible that works conform to organisational requirements
  • Input to buildability and optioneering of schemes at design stage where possible
  • Continually strive to improve methods of work to be adopted on site
  • Maintain and enhance H&S on site
  • Provide client and public facing liaison and PR activities as required
  • Arrange and attend planning and initiation meetings with stakeholders and clients
  • Carryout tool box talks and communication with workforce
  • Responsible for scheme construction, commissioning and handover
  • Management and reporting of cost, programme and outturn against forecasts
  • Responsible that schemes are delivered safely, are of a high quality, are within set timeframes and are cost effective
  • Manage scope change reduction and variation control on site
  • Production of weekly/monthly performance and financial reports as required


To be considered a suitable applicant for this role you will need the following qualifications, knowledge and experience:

  • 5 Day Site Managers Safety Awareness
  • 3 or more years’ experience at supervision/site management level within civil engineering contracting industry
  • CSCS Supervisors/Managers Card
  • ONC or NVQ Equivalent
  • Efficient resource management to include sub-contractors
  • Supervision of large civil engineering schemes
  • Material and Plant requisition
  • Planning and programming
  • Risk Management
  • Industrial Relationships
  • Proven experience in contracting industry
