The Bristol Building Services team is currently involved in numerous exciting projects across a large number of market sectors. From their offices in Bristol they also offer technical support to their world wide offices and clients. 
    As an integral part of the Building Engineering Practice Area; the Building Services group operates throughout the UK and internationally to provide a comprehensive design service.
    Services include feasibility studies; energy studies, renewable energy solutions, passive energy saving designs, HVAC, lighting, HV & LV electrical design, public health, BREEAM and CfSH assessments, building simulation modeling, across a full range of Building Engineering projects.
    By applying their design experience and a client focused approach to all their designs, they believe they can offer the best in value engineering whilst meeting environmental objectives.
    They deliver quality building services engineering design solutions to respond to their clients’ needs.
    The successful candidate will be working at Associate or Associate Director  level in their current organisation, and be familiar with leading and running Building Engineering projects across a diverse range of market sectors.  With a well developed network of clients the post holder will spend a significant proportion of their week working with the sales and marketing team to generate new work from our existing Client base as well as their own network.
    The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following:



    • a strong commitment to design leadership and also be able to demonstrate excellent commercial skills

    • an ability to lead and manage projects in collaboration with the regional commercial team to deliver a sustainable business with healthy levels of profits through careful assessment and management of commercial risks

    • a strong working knowledge of contract types, industry standard appointments and other industry standard guides and documentation is essential.  A track record of working with high profile architects is essential

    • work in a multidisciplinary design team to successfully deliver multidiscipline and sustainable solutions for building projects

    • a strong understanding of analytical techniques and be able to work with team members to deliver innovative solutions based on sound engineering theory.

    • an interest in building design, and demonstrate an ability to work from first principles to deliver best solutions to meet Client needs

    • be able to interface and work with Clients, contractors and suppliers through the normal project cycle to develop system design develop a team that will offer a full range of skills to provide a full building engineering service including the following areas, Low Carbon Consultant , Breeam, Code for Sustainable Homes Eco Homes and Energy Performance Certification


    The successful applicant will:



    • report to the Group Leader Building Services

    • possess strong communication skills with Clients and other project team members

    • have an established network of clients and work influencers

    • work with the team to deliver imaginative and innovative design solutions

    • be required to manage their own time and the time of their project team colleagues to ensure project deadlines are achieved

    • be required to work with senior staff to deliver high quality work to a programme and run an efficient and effective team

    • be highly motivated and focused on a successful win-win outcome for the company and our clients

    • be highly organised and maintain various management systems to proactively manage resources

    • be an effective and inspirational team leader and be recognised internally and externally for excellent technical skills and service delivery

    • be a good communicator in both written and oral form.  Be able to produce creative reports and documents using freehand sketching and other graphics software

    • be a good team player who understands the need to share knowledge and skills

    • Chartered Engineer with a recognised UK institution


    The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:



    • have a relevant degree qualification in either Mechanical Engineering, Building Engineering or a related subject.  A Chartered Engineer

    • be able to demonstrate a personal commitment to technical and career development

    • demonstrate a sound commercial knowledge and be able to apply appropriate and cost effective working practices

    • be able to organise both their own workload and organise project team members

    • competent in the use of industry standard software and Microsoft office suite of software

    • Degree Qualified. Chartered Engineer is essential.

    • Relevant working experience at a similar level in their current organisation is essential
